In Memoriam: Madeline Alice Spohr

As wide and vast as the Internet is, it seems to make the world only smaller. By becoming active reading and commenting on many blogs and writing my own, I feel like I've gotten to know so many people.

One such person is Heather Spohr, her husband Mike and their baby girl Maddie.

The very first time I heard of Maddie was Mike's post on her first days on earth and how difficult and trying they were. The story was both heartbreaking and hopeful. But it was the pictures that really captured my heart.

I believe my comment on the post was something to the effect that Maddie would grow up to be a Disney princess because she had the wide-eyed, beautiful face they love to use for their princesses. And her smile always caused one of my own.

On April 7, we lost an angel on earth as heaven gained one. Maddie passed away unexpectedly.

To Heather and Mike... my most heartfelt condolences and prayers. I shed my tears for you and in honor of Maddie, a most precious girl.

Heather and Mike have requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the March of Dimes in Maddie's memory.

A Mom Two Boys has more details and a comprehensive list of more people who were touched by Maddie.
