New LOST Code Name

As you may know, Team Darlton and their writers are fond of naming the surprise/cliffhanger for every LOST season finale. They do this to help maintain the surprise. Season 1 was The Bagel; Season 2 was The Challah; and Season 3 was The Snake in the Mailbox. In their podcast dated March 19, they revealed Season 4's code name: The Frozen Donkey Wheel. I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. It could very well just be an inside joke amongst the writers, but I'd love to hear your theories.

Hump Day Humor: The Surrogate

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon."

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. "Good morning, Ma'am", he said, "I've come to..."

"Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been expecting you."

"Have you really?" said the photographer. "Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?"

"Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat."

After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?"

"Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there."

"Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!"

"Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results."

"My, that's a lot!", gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that."

"Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus," he said.

"Oh, my God!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

"And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with."

"She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look"

"Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes", the photographer replied. "And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in."

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. "Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?"

"It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away."

"Tripod?"

"Oh yes, Ma'am.. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long."

Mrs. Smith fainted.

LOST S4ep8

Major flashback episode. We haven't had an episode made up of this much flashback since, what?, Desmond?

Interesting thoughts on redemption Ben/Mr. Friendly/Others have... Michael is to redeem killing Ana-Lucia and Libby by killing the whole freighter crew. Murder is redemption for murder how? Because it serves Ben's purpose that's why. And Ben is the master manipulator. Even over airwaves he can get people to do what he wants them to. I guess that's why he's uber-creepy. The man has mad skills at getting what he wants.

Michael was wracked with guilt over shooting Ana-Lucia and Libby. Sure makes sense. It even makes sense that he would picture Libby (not Ana-Lucia because I guess they had trouble getting Michelle Rodriguez to come back) in random places. But was it a figment of his imagination or is it possible that it's Mr. Smoky? We know Mr. Smoky has appeared to Locke as Walt and to Eko as Yemi at the very least. Can the monster even project himself off the Island like that? Or is he inextricably connected to the Island?

They just killed the French chick. I know she had more of a Ukrainian accent but that's no reason to kill her. Man and she was fun when she was telling Ben where to stick it regarding Alex. Speaking of, I'm disappointed in Alex. She's an Other for god's sake, she knows the Island better than the Freighties and likes to dig holes in the ground to hide. Why didn't she just run? I realize she just lost her boyfriend and the mother she just found out she had but still. Save yourself girl!

According to the promo, Aaron is indeed one of the Oceanic 6. I guess we have to believe it though Team Darlton have been kind of sketch on that. No more new episodes until April 24. Sigh.

Michael talks about being back on the island

TVGuide has an interview with LOST's Harold Perrineau in which he teases tonight's episode and talks about being back as a cast member. Definitely includes some interesting tidbits about tonight's show, the last of the new episodes for a few weeks before we see any post-strike episodes. Click here to read the story.

LOST S4ep7

Of course the guy on the freighter is Michael. They weren't too subtle about that in the previews from last week. What I'm dying to know is how Ben convinced Michael to leave Walt and come back to the island and work for him. What does Ben have on Michael or what has he offered him that would get Michael to agree to such a deal?

Sun is my least favorite character on the island so a Sun/Jin-centric episode is going to be hard for me to enjoy. What's interesting about the two of them is that my opinion of Jin and Sun switched half way through the first season. And I knew, I KNEW!, that Sun was flash forward and Jin was flash back because that phone Jin dropped in the street was too old, big and chunky to be from 2004. And f**k! I love Jin!! He's such an awesome character. I hope he goes down guns blazing because that would be awesome.

Go Juliet! Man that girl has some balls. She knows unequivocally that the best thing for Sun is to remain on the beach so she can get off the island and hopefully survive her pregnancy and carry the baby to term. So she will stop at nothing to keep her there. And when reasoning doesn't work, she tries telling Jin about Sun's high chances for death. He either didn't understand her fully or trusted Sun too much to stop. So she resorted to telling Jin about the affair Sun had. And he definitely understood that. I was waiting for Jin to slap Sun after she slapped Juliet. Too bad that didn't happen. But this is why I love Juliet. She deeply cares about people and will do whatever it takes to help them.

What the hell was going on with Regan? Why did she jump off the freighter with the chains in an apparent suicide. Extreme case of cabin fever? Nah, it has to be more than that. She was clearly upset when Lapidus pointed out her book was upside down. I don't think we know enough about the freighter people yet and their motives to be able to speculate, but I'm sure some of you have some ideas, that I'd love to hear.

HP News: DH to be split into two movies

The official announcement has come! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie will be split in two so the whole book can be included in the film. The first part is scheduled to be released November 2010 and the second part in May 2011. Here's a notable quote from producer David Heyman...

"I swear to you it was born out of purely creative
reasons," Heyman said during an interview in a converted airplane factory
outside London that has been home base to all of the "Potter" productions.
"Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book. You can
remove scenes of Ron playing quidditch from the fifth book, and you can remove
Hermione and S.P.E.W. [Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare] and those
subplots . . . but with the seventh, that can't be done."

Heyman said he approached Rowling with some trepidation
about the strategy but found that she signed off on its logic rather quickly. "I
went to Jo and she was cool with it," Heyman said, "and that was quite a
relief."

Hump Day Humor: Durex commercials

These commercials aren't for Durex condoms but for new Durex "massagers" - a new line of products from the condom company (a smart product expansion if you ask me). You likely won't see these on the air in the U.S. but they're hilarious!

ANSWER - Tuesday Trivia: Music

For whom was Elton John's song Candle in the Wind originally written?

Marilyn Monroe, in 1973. The original song, with lyrics by Bernie Taupin, opened with the line "Goodbye Norma Jean." When they rewrote it in 1997 as a tribute to Princess Diana, it began, "Goodbye England's rose."

An iPod Update

So I've had trouble with my iPod. (Click here to catch up if you're not familiar with the story.)

I've been procrastinating since November - I know - about calling Best Buy to redeem my extended warranty. I finally did and turns out I have to take into the store. After a bit more procrastination, I take it in.

The Geek at the Geek Squad tells me I have two options.
#1 - They can send in my iPod and have it refurbished. This would take about 4-6 weeks.
#2 - They can send me a refurbished iPod of the same model that I currently have. This would take 3-5 days.

So naturally I go with option 2 not being particulary attached to the physical iPod since what's important is on my computer. 3-5 days later, I get the "new" iPod, and I'm excited because I'm finally going to have an iPod again and get to catch up on my podcasts.

I take it out of the box and plug it into the computer, and the damn thing wouldn't register on iTunes. It wasn't even showing up as plugged in. So I go back to the store. And they order me another refurbished model. Only this time I have to go to the store to pick it up. It came in last week just before I left for LA, and according to the message they left me, I had 5 days to pick it up. Since I was going to be out of town, DBF was kind enough to pick it up for me. (Thanks babe!)

I eagerly booted up my computer this morning and after having to restore the damn thing, it uploaded all my music and podcasts, and I'm listening to an old Mugglecast now. Whew! Thus ends this chapter in my iPod saga. Stay tuned as I'm sure I'll have an update in a year or so...

LOST S4ep6

Widmore was the one who sent the freighter and most likely the reason they were supposed to ignore calls from Penny. He didn't want his daughter getting together again with Desmond, who he sees as a complete loser and waste of time and energy. Wonder how he found out about the island. Is it due to Desmond? Or, Penny looking for Desmond?

And next week looks like we'll see who on the freighter is on Ben's side. Promos make it look like it could be Michael. That was a theory I wasn't ready to subscribe to before last night though I might have to next week.

Interesting how Charlotte and Daniel see Ben as this monster but if Ben is correct in Widmore wanting the island to exploit for his financial benefit, why would he be so concerned about Ben? So in that case what have the freighter people been told to make them so focused on Ben and taking away his weapons?

Goodwin was married. That was a bit of a surprise. His wife seems to be a real bitch too. No wonder he took up with Juliet. Too bad for him Ben knew.

Ben has a thing for Juliet. Well that's no surprise. What is is that it's not just a crush, he's almost obsessed with her believing that she is his possession. He has a little psychosis. Which I guess should be surprising but it was never clearer than when he told Juliet, "You're mine!" Interesting offhand comment from Harper about how Juliet looks just like her. Who? I'm thinking Annie, the girl that gave Ben the dolls as a birthday present. Makes it a little clearer as to why Ben is so attached to the doll.

Goodwin hasn't been dead that long. Two months at the very longest. How does she fall in love with Jack so quickly. Interesting how just days after Jack confesses his love for Kate he's kissing Juliet. He doesn't say he loves her which is important to note but he kisses her.

LOST Analysis

So last week's episode was kinda complicated with the whole time travel and course correction. Well, lucky for us a writer with Entertainment Weekly has his theories (which are incredible, trust me LOST fans you want to read his theories). And some of them he has confirmed with LOST producer Damon Lindelof. Also includes a couple clues/teases for tonight's episode that are a bit spoilery. Can't wait for tonight Juliet-centric episode since she rocks! Click here for the full article.

Crocs strike again! Ew!

You may remember that I hate Crocs.

Well now Crocs has announced... Crocs for cell phones! That's right. They've taken those hideous shoes and made miniature versions to hold a person's cell phone.

Great now not only will bad fashion sense be seen on people's feet but also in their purses and on belts.

A primary freak-out

So Tuesday wasn't an easy thing for some Hilary supporters. One precinct chairwoman seemed to have gone a bit crazy when Tuesday night during the caucus she grabbed the sign-in documents in favor of Obama to go home and "correct" them. She was followed to a police station and told the police she was being chased. LOST answers some questions

TV Guide has an interview with Team Darlton of LOST answering a bunch of questions from the cast, which coincidentally are a lot of my (and I imagine your) questions. Click here to read the entire article.

What I find to be most interesting:

Jorge Garcia (Hurley): "Is Ben in the
coffin?"

Carlton Cuse: Come on, Jorge!
Damon Lindelof: Seriously! [To Cuse] He's just trying to
make sure it's not him. It's process of elimination. The next question is, "Is
it Michael?" [Laughs]

Cuse: Before the end of the year, you will know who's in
the coffin.

Lindelof: And Jorge will definitely know before anyone
else.

I didn't think we'd be finding out this season. Awesome!
