I am so glad that this show is back. It is so different from everything else I watch that it is a very welcome addition to my television repertoire.
It is hard to remember where this show left off as it's been so long since it has been on, thanks to the writers' strike. But the recap did a great job of reminding me and I didn't mind the repetition of what I already knew since it is Jim Dale that narrates the show.
Ned is just a bit needy I think. His yearning for Chuck is just a little over the top and way creepy. I understand that she is the love of his life and that he's spent a lifetime pining for her. But now that she's back in his life, he's still pining. Of course it's because he can't touch her but still. You can't expect the writers to tone it down either because this show is all about over the top.
The outrageous murder plots. The bright colors of the show. The sets where an office is a bee hive. The characters that are unlike anything I've seen in a television show.
Even the nunnery that Lily takes Olive to is over the top. Their habits are not black. But a nice shade of turquoise, or something similar.
All of these things, come together to add some brightness and humor to a show that would otherwise be very, very dark. So really it's only dark.
