Tick Tock

I know lots of people who have kids (well, technically the woman had the baby but sometimes it's the daddy I know). Anyway, enough with the biology lesson. This summer brought the first baby whose parents I'm actually close to.

When the precious bundle of joy blessed us with her presence, I went to visit her and the happy parents after they brought her home. I spent a lovely afternoon gushing over the child and talking with the new parents Apryl and Chris about their experience and how overwhelmed they already are.

Tick Tock

I heard something then but it didn't really register.

Tick Tock

Whatever it was, I waved it away and went along with my life. That is until last week.

Tick Tock

Last week was the beginning of one of my favorite annual traditions, Restaurant Week. When I get to go to a fancy restaurant and pretend I have money and eat there all the time.

For dinner it was DBF, me and my friends Liz and Apryl. Only Apryl didn't have a sitter for the evening and since Chris was working that night, she brought the little bundle from above to dinner.

Tick Tock

The restaurant did not make a big deal out of it (which we were kinda nervous about). And the baby behaved herself remarkably well.

Tick Tock

Only she would get a little fussy whenever we left her too long in her car seat. So while Apryl ate her dessert, I offered to take the child.

Tick Tock

I started hearing that noise again. But I still couldn't place it.

Tick Tock

As the baby bounced on my leg and I saw the people looking at me with her, I realized what it was. My biological clock.

Fuck! I have time. Time I tell you! Lots and lots of time! So I hit the snooze button. That should last me 5-7 years at least. Right?
