LOST S4ep5

Sorry it's taken me so long to post guys. I had a really long day, so this is likely to be a short post.

Well, we got further confirmation that time moves differently and that the difference can affect people in weird ways making their consciousness flit between two different times. Part of me thinks that Desmond being able to go back and see Penny made her decide to start looking for him. Kinda makes sense since in 1996 she clearly didn't want to have anything to do with him and just a few years later she finds him in California and then continues to look for him.

I love that Penny and Desmond got to reconnect and admit that they still love each other after all that time. Even if it was over the phone. Brought a little tear to the eye.

So why was the freighter not allowed to answer calls from Penny? Orders from her dad? Hanso/Dharma? Someone else?

And how mind blowing was it that the Black Rock is connected in some way to the Hanso Foundation? While I was watching it I heard the auctioneer say that it belonged to Tovard Hanso and I shot up to rewind TiVo to make sure I heard it right. Holy crap! And then Penny's dad
buys the ledger and other stuff. Insane. Where are we going with this? Does anyone have any ideas?

There was his girl...

I think memes can be terribly fun. (What's a meme you ask? It's an idea or particular way of thinking spread from person to person. In the blogosphere, it's generally passed around as bloggers tag each other.) And today's can be, depending on the book.

So the meme for today? Take the book you're currently reading, turn to page 123. Find the fifth sentence... then post the next three sentences (#s 6, 7, 8) on your blog.

Here goes...

Book: The Human Stain by Philip Roth

Sentences 6, 7, 8 as found on page 123:
Walt had been unable to make it up that day from Asbury Park but there, coming
out of the kitchen and into the hallway, were his mother and Ernestine. And
there, in their house, was his girl. She may or may not have been what they were

Sounds like it could be a very interesting book doesn't it? Too bad it's so dense I have trouble wading through it.

I'm tagging Michele over at PR Moonlighting for this meme. Girl, what are you reading?

A teaser...

I think I've found the best hump day humor video, quite possibly in the history of this regular post. Heehee. I'm giggling just thinking about it. But you'll just have to come back next Wednesday to find out what it is. I promise you won't be disappointed.

LOST S4ep4

Wow. I think we just saw the best episode of the season, so far. And I love saying that!

No surprise that Kate's first priority was to find out what the freighter people knew about her to see if it was safe to leave the island. During the episode, I was convinced that the only reason why she would leave the island after finding out she'd still face a trial would be because she was pregnant. Of course the reveal that her son is actually Aaron stomped all over that idea.

Aaron?!?! WTH! What happened to Claire? Is Kate passing Aaron off as her own son or that he was the son of one of the eight that didn't make it? Did Claire willingly give Aaron to her? Or, did she take him for some reason?

This is why I love this show... you think that they've run out of questions and major storylines, then they shine their spotlight or turn a corner and it's a whole new plethora of possibilities. So I end up with so many more questions. And I know that is what drives a lot of people crazy about this show, but I think it makes it more exciting.

Clearly, Jack is still in love with Kate in the future. But there's too much guilt for him to face Aaron. Maybe this is part of the reason why he feels so guilty in his flash forward? Also, maybe why Hurley felt guilty?

At least we know the official story the Oceanic 6 has been telling everyone. Now I wonder why they had to say only 8 survived originally and who were the two that didn't (supposedly)? And I just had a thought... the funeral Jack went to at the end of Season 3... was that for one of the Oceanic 6? Seems like it's possible considering he was calling Kate about it. And if it was one of the Oceanic 6, why did that person not have a media frenzy at his/her funeral like Hurley, Kate and Jack seem to get every time the go out?

I agree with Ben...why $3.2 million? Why not 3.3 or 3.1? It seems such a random number. Although knowing the writers, I'm sure it's not random. So who exactly is Ben?

I loved the throwback to season 2 with Locke bringing Ben food while he was locked up. The show has come so far it feels like so long ago we thought his name was Henry Gale. Also, loved how Locke took charge at the end banishing Kate and shoving a grenade in Miles' mouth. He's in charge and he's finally starting to realize what that means I think.

I think that was the end of Sawyer/Kate. Sniff. Team Darlton...please please please don't kill Sawyer off just because Kate's getting off the island! There are so many more directions you can take him in.

Some cuteness

I think it's fairly clear that I love beagles. Here's an adorable video of a beagle puppy learning how to howl. Can I keep him?

Lost S4ep3

Sayid is such a badass and one incredibly awesome character! He may have sided with Jack in the Jack/Locke stand-off but he's not trusting the freighter people, and probably for good reason.

With him finding Ben's passports and money and the statement he made about the day he trusts Ben is the day he sells his soul to the devil, I thought it was obvious in his flash forward that he was working with Ben. Or, whom I'm assuming is Ben.

But the question is who are these people he is hunting? For now, I'm guessing that they're related in some way to the freighter. Or, they could have something to do with the Island (maybe Dharma/Hanso Foundation?) since Ben mentioned that he's protecting his friends by taking care of "the list". (Again with lists, what is it with this guy and lists?)

Clearly, whatever it is, Sayid feels so strongly about it that he's not looking for or with Nadia. I wonder if he started working with Ben immediately after leaving the Island or if he had some time on the outside and needed some convincing from Ben before joining the hunt.

On to other characters, loved how Jack asked Juliet to go to the beach for Desmond and the look on Kate's face. Just awesome. I also really loved how Sawyer finally admitted to wanting to stay on the Island because there's nothing for him (or Kate) but trouble back in the real world. Too bad Kate doesn't realize that and stay with him (for I'm fairly certain Sawyer's not a member of the Oceanic 6) rather than leaving with Jack.

ANSWER - Tuesday Trivia: Animals

What animal is used to detect gas leaks in pipelines in southern California and Arizona?

Turkey buzzards. The utility company adds an odor to its gas lines similar to that of a female turkey buzzard ready to mate. When there's a break in a gas line, repair crews look for a cluster of aroused male turkey buzzards to pinpoint the trouble spot.

A political question

Don't worry, I'm not getting all political on this blog. But watching Super Tuesday coverage this week inspired a question that I wanted to put to all you smart people.

Those of you that voted (or will vote) in this year's primary...Do you vote for the person you believe will make the best president? Or, do you vote for the person who has the best chance for beating the other party in the general election in November?

I've never voted in a primary - that would involve picking a political party and I'm not willing to commit to one. Though I am contemplating voting not so much for someone in particular as much as to give one less vote to others.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you readers think. I promise to not make the political talk a regular occurence.

LOST S4ep2

So the freighter people are there for Ben. Why? And how does he have someone on the freighter? The fact that he does certainly explains why he knew they were bad news, and why he really didn't want them to come on the island.

I wonder if they're with Dharma or the Hanso Foundation. Could explain why they want Ben since he's one of the main people responsible for the Purge and more or less the leader of the hostiles. Especially since Charlotte found the Dharma collar at the site of the polar bear bones (was that The Hydra station?).

But then again, that could be too obvious of an answer for this show so I could still be way wrong.

What's interesting though is that Naomi at least suspected that there might be survivors from 815 despite Matthew Abbadon's insistence that they found the plane and that there couldn't possibly be any survivors.

Poor Juliet. Just when she starts to get the Losties to believe she's not a bad guy and that she also wants to get off the island, along comes a new group of people she has to convince. I wonder if she'll get off the island. But if she does, she's certainly not one of the Oceanic 6 since she wasn't on the plane.

And is it just me or was the "pilot" they were showing on the news so clearly a dummy?

I do like all the ties with - Sunda Trench and Christianne I. Wonder if there will be any more.

Are we near the end?

Strong rumors are circulating that there's a tentative agreement and we might be able to expect an announcement this week that the strike between the writers and Hollywood headhonchos is over.

So what does that mean for the rest of the season? Most likely established shows will return to production for a few episodes while those that were new this season but received full season pick ups won't return till the fall.

Angry Dallas fan

LOST S4ep1

Finally, after eight months (Has it really only been eight? It feels like longer.) we're getting new episodes of LOST. And I only have one word to describe last night's premiere...

The hope of the Losties as the believe they're going to finally be rescued, a hope that was so quickly dashed in the beginning when the pilot told them how far off course they were and realized that no one would know where to look for them, was again quickly tested as word spread that the boat people might be dangerous and not there to rescue them.

Based on the flash forward, we know at least 6 people (Oceanic 6) are getting off the island and that 3 of those 6 are Jack, Kate and Hurley. (I know a fourth thanks to some reading on my part but in an effort to keep things secret for those who like it that way, you'll have to highlight the following text to read who I have read is the fourth one: Sayid). So who are the other two? Claire since Desmond saw her getting on a helicopter (I don't think Aaron would count towards the 6) and Sun since she's pregnant? But would Sun leave Jin behind? You could argue that it's not Claire because she goes with Locke but so does Hurley and we know he does.

What's interesting about the flash forward (besides Charlie appearing to Hurley and Jack showing up to make sure "he doesn't tell"), is that it was Hurley centric. Sure Jack had a couple appearances. But it wasn't focused on Jack, for once. It feels like most of the time a season's opener and closer focus on Jack. So why Hurley? Why his story? Perhaps because he's the first one to feel the island's pull. We know Jack does later because of the finale last year. Maybe Charlie appeared to him too and that's the start of it. Though I wonder if he was feeling it a little bit at the time of last night's flash forward since he was clearly drinking in the morning.

And who was the guy that visited Hurley at the hospital? He wanted to know if they're still alive. Interesting. The Losties? The Others? Some other group of people we've yet to meet? What is it exactly that they did?!?!?!

Was that Jacob in the cabin sitting in the chair? The shadow kinda looked like Christian Shepherd. And who was it that popped up in the window in front of Hurley? Looked like someone else. I'm hearing a rumor that Jacob is whoever you want him to be. Which would be very interesting. What is Jacob's role on the island? Some sort of supreme or divine ruler/omniscient power? A ghost to scare little kids and bad Others?

Oh those genius LOST writers, there are so many more questions now.

I LOVED seeing Charlie again. Does that mean he'll still make guest appearances like Boone? Well maybe not exactly like Boone.

I loved the raw emotion of Hurley as he grieved for Charlie and when he told Claire I was almost crying. I loved how he told Jack, I'm not going to listen to you and followed Locke. Not sure why he would regret that later, but I'm sure we'll find out - at some point. I loved Sawyer's struggle as he decided to follow Locke rather than staying with Jack just for Kate. He clearly loves her but had do to what he felt would keep him alive. Which means he's still putting himself as a priority ahead of her and that will only keep the relationship interesting. I loved Bernard saying we can stay on the island if you want and Rose telling him she's not following Locke. I loved Danielle hitting Ben and reminding him that Alex is not in fact his daughter. I loved Ben asking permission from Jack to go with Locke. Just awesome and great comedic relief.
