Isaiah Washington drama

Isaiah Washington has been creating drama every time he opens his mouth. Saying everything from T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl conspired to get rid of himself and Patrick Dempsey to saying that the deicision to fire him was a racist one. Washington will be appearing on Larry King Live on Monday so maybe some of this will get cleared up. But then again considering it's Washington being interviewed, we may only be getting more angry ranting. ABC hasn't commented.

Hump Day Humor: Gladys Hardy at it again!

This time she and Ellen discuss American Idol. It apparently aired a while ago, but it's still quite humorous. Enjoy!

Deathly Hallows clue

With the OotP movie quickly approaching, more and more interviews are being conducted with cast and director David Yates. At a press conference on Saturday, Yates was asked to reveal the character that had initially been cut but was kept after Jo reviewed the script and said "'You know, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Or you can, but if you get to make a seventh film, you'll be tied in knots." Yates declined to reveal this particular hint at first. Fortunately, MTV News was able to convince him to tell all. SPOILER ALERT! Please scroll down because it contains Book 7 spoilers.

"It was Kreacher, actually. We took Kreacher out, and Jo said, ‘Listen guys, you don’t have to put Kreacher back, but I’m just telling you, if you want to kind of keep a thread going for six and seven, you might want Kreacher to come back.’ She basically told us Kreacher plays a role in Seven, in a sense. She hinted. We thought about it for five seconds, and he came back.”

What role can he being playing? Betrayal of Harry and the Order? Or does he help with the hunt of the horcruxes? Remember, the locket he was trying to hide in OotP? I wonder if that has something to do with it.

One month and counting

This is it. The final countdown to the final book. One month from today, Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows will be available at a bookstore near you. I'm getting chills just thinking how in a few short weeks we'll finally know what happens to Harry, Voldemort and friends. A couple months ago, I began my traditional rereading of the previous books before the new one comes out. I started early because in addition to the six Harry Potter books, I have one book a month to read for my book club.

Anyway, last month I was finishing up GoF when I came across something I had missed the previous 8 or 9 times I've read it. In chapter 36 The Parting of Ways, Dumbledore says, "Sirius, I need you to set off at once. You are to alert Remus Lupin, Arabella Figg, Mundungus Fletcher - the old crowd."

There it was in plain black and white text...the clue to the revelation in OotP that Mrs. Figg was connected to Dumbledore and a Squib. And yet I missed it every single time I've read GoF, even those times after OotP had come out.

And once again I marvel at the genius of JK Rowling and wonder what else she has mentioned plainly in passing in any of the books that hold a key to one of the many mysteries we hope to have solved with the last book.

What clues have you found?

Hump Day Humor: Abbott and Costello for the Tech World

Here's a new version of the old Abbott and Costello bit "Who's on First" revamped for the tech world:

The scene: Costello calls to buy a computer from Abbott.

Abbott: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

Costello: Yes. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.

Abbott: Mac?

Costello: No, the name's Lou.

Abbott: Your computer?

Costello: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

Abbott: Mac?

Costello: I told you, my name's Lou.

Abbott: What about Windows?

Costello: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

Abbott: Do you want a computer with Windows?

Costello: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

Abbott: Wallpaper.

Costello: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

Abbott: Software for Windows?

Costello: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?

Abbott: Office.

Costello: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

Abbott: I just did.

Costello: You just did what?

Abbott: Recommend something.

Costello: You recommended something?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: For my office?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
Abbott: Office

Costello: Yes, for my office!

Abbott: I recommend Office with Windows.

Costello: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

Abbott: Word.

Costello: What word?

Abbott: Word in Office.

Costello: The only word in office is office.

Abbott: The Word in Office for Windows.

Costello: Which word in office for windows?

Abbott: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".

Costello: I'm going to click your blue "w" if you don't start with some straightanswers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: That's right. What do you have?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: I need money to track my money?

Abbott: It comes bundled with your computer.

Costello: What's bundled with my computer?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: Money comes with my computer?

Abbott: Yes. No extra charge.

Costello: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

Abbott: One copy.

Costello: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

Abbott: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

Costello: They can give you a license to copy money?

Abbott: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

A few days later:

Abbott: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

Costello: How do I turn my computer off?

Abbott: Click on "START"

ANSWER - Tuesday Trivia: Inventions

What piece of equipment inspired Massachusetts Shaker Tabitha Babbitt to invent the circular saw in 1813?

The spinning wheel. Babbitt was working in a Shaker spinning house when she realized that the wheel could be applied to cutting logs. At the time, two-man pit saws were used in saw mills, and half the sawing motion was lost. Babbitt made a thin toothed disk, put it on the spindle of her spinning wheel, and discovered that her rotating circular blade could saw wood much more efficiently.

Lost S3ep22 (FINALLY!) and DVD news

Sorry for the delay in posting. I've been somewhat lazy since getting back from Mexico.

What else can I add to the discussion about the finale besides what's already been said? I'm not sure I can so I won't spend a lot of time on it. If you don't care, scroll through to the end on news about the DVD set for Season 3.

Why does Jack kiss Juliet then tells Kate he loves her? What are his feelings about Juliet? He clearly doesn't love her as he does Kate but that was no brotherly or friendly kiss.

Smokey/Walt make a reappearance. And he's clearly aged in the last year. The only way they'd be able to explain the growth/aging is by flashing forward - which it looks as though they're setting themselves up for that.

Is it just me, or during Jack's flashback/flash forward, he mentioned his dad. So does this mean his dad's not dead? Alternate reality? It was clearly not a flashback with the shots of the RAZR.

I loved seeing Jack pound the shit out of Ben. As much as I love the layers this character has, he had this coming with the amount of trouble he's brought to our Losties. And that reunion between Alex and Rousseau was awkward and awesome at the same time! I loved seeing Ben forced to admit the truth.

Charlie could have saved himself. But he had accepted his fate and truly believed that Claire and Aaron would only be saved by his death. It was so sad to see he had managed to find love only to sacrifice it for those he loved.

I can't believe they killed Mr. Friendly. I was looking forward to the love triangle of Mr. Friendly/Jack/Kate. It would have been fun.

Okay folks, that's it for Season 3. What did you like about my commentary? What didn't you like? Any suggestions. I'll be posting news I'm sure as it comes out. But have a good summer/fall. Until February 08!

In a news release, Disney announced that in Region 1 (North America) the Season 3 DVD set of 7 discs will be released December 11, 2007. I guess they want to push it back this year nearer to the beginning of Season 4 to drive more interest in the show. But it'll make a great Christmas gift! Regions 2 (Europe, Japan) and 4 (Australia) have yet to be confirmed.

No more Dr. Burke

Isaiah Washington's contract was not renewed...he will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy in the fall. In a statement he released through his publicist, Washington says he's "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore." Personally, I don't know how they could have kept him after what happened last fall. I understand and agree with the decision to keep him on for the rest of the third season - they needed to complete the story line. Getting rid of him any sooner than they did would have hurt his and Cristina's story. I'll post more information as I find it.

Hump Day Humor: Updates

Last year, my friend upgraded his GirlFriend3.1 to GirlFriendPlus1.0 (marketing name: Fiancee1.0). Recently he upgraded Fiancee1.0 to Wife1.0 and it's a memory hugger, it has taken all his space; and Wife1.0 must be running before he can do anything. Although he did not ask for it, Wife1.0 came with Plug-Ins such as MotherInLaw and BrotherInLaw.

Some features I'd like to see in the Upcoming GirlFriend4.0...
- A "Don't remind me again" button
- Minimize button
- Shutdown feature
- An install shield feature so that Girlfriend4.0 can be completely uninstalled if so desired (so you don't lose cache and other objects)

I tried running girlfriend 2.0 with girlfriend 1.0 still installed, they tried using the same i/o port and conflicted. Then I tried to uninstall girlfriend 1.0 but it didn't have an uninstall program. I tried to uninstall it by hand, but it put files in my system directory.

Another thing that sucks in all versions of girlfriend that I've used is that it is totally "object orientated" and only supported hardware with gold plated contacts.

***** BUG WARNING ********
Wife 1.0 has an undocumented bug. If you try to install Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete MSMoney files before doing the uninstall itself. Then Mistress 1.1 will refuse to install, claiming insufficient resources.
