Harry Potter theme park announced!!

Want to visit Hogwarts, Hogsmeade or the Forbidden Forest? You only have to wait a couple years. This morning, Warner Bros. and Universal announced the first ever Harry Potter theme park. It will be part of the "Islands of Adventure" area of Universal in Orlando, Florida. One source says it's to open in 2009 and another 2010. Either way, we have a little while to wait. What's interesting is that what's essentially a British franchise (although beloved around the world) will have it's first park in the U.S. But considering the number of tourists that flock to Orlando every year, I think it's a smart idea to have it there. Here's concept art for Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade, Owl's View of Park, Logo. Universal will also be launching a web site for the park soon.

Sad news about LOST

Well folks, tonight is the two-hour game-changing finale, and I'm going to miss it. Well, not forever, just temporarily. I'll be in Mexico when it airs and will be recording it to watch when I get back on Monday. So my commentary will be belated, but I will post my thoughts on the episode after I watch it. I just hope I can make it to Monday without hearing any spoilers. Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Grey's Anatomy S3ep24

What a touching moment between Richard and Adele. They've finally managed to find their way back to each other. But will they stay together now that Derek has refused the position as chief of surgery and Richard will be forced to stay? Or will he insist on retiring to be with Adele and give the job to Burke or Mark - as we know Addison will be in LA next season.

Also a touching moment between George and Izzie when she tells him she loves him while tying his tie. Brilliant strategy that was - it forced him to stay and listen. Smart girl. It was also touching to see Izzie in the church at the end. She clearly pines for George but is determined to do the right thing. But Callie knows.

Callie is chief resident. I really feel for Miranda. She had thought the position was a sure thing. She was confident in her ability to do the job and that she deserved it. She never dreamed that she had any competition. Of course, it didn't help matters that Richard was always telling her the job was hers.

Callie and George are going to have a baby?! Man, I hope not. That's the worse decision they could make - well at the very least they're making it for the wrong reasons. How callous of Callie to be flaunting her relationship with George and job success in front of Izzie. I understand the situation's complicated but act with a little more tact and grace for goodness sake.

Alex is a decent guy. But for some reason, whenever anyone tries to tell him he is, he refuses to accept it and does the exact opposite of what a decent guy would do. He cheated on Izzie with Olivia. He dropped Addison after one night of sex. And now Ava/Rebecca has asked if he reciprocates her feelings and he denies it. And when he finally gets the kick in the pants he deserves, it's too late. We know he cares about her deeply. Alex has connected with Ava/Rebecca more deeply than he has connected with any other woman on the show. So where does this behavior come from? Truth is - we have no idea. Alex is the one character we know the least about. I hope they explore his story more next season.

Are Derek and Meredith breaking up? Woohoo! I guess I shouldn't be celebrating yet as nothing official seemed to happen. But I can hope for the next three or four months can't I?

George failed his intern exam. He's still a doctor - he just won't be a surgeon. Unless he changes his mind. A year ago it didn't seem as though Izzie was ever going to come back, but she did.

No ending for Mark? I'm disappointed. But I'm looking forward to what they're going to do with him next year with Addison gone.

Burke ended it with Cristina. He's finally realized he didn't love her but the thought and possibility of her. And that's never enough. Cristina truly loved him. And she was willing to sacrifice her beliefs for him. But if they had gotten married, it wouldn't have been enough. It was nice to see the vulnerable side of Cristina for a change - standing in their apartment in her wedding dress noticing all the small things that were missing. Although I found her word choice interesting: "I'm free" Wonder what that means.

So we have another Dr. Grey at Seattle Grace. Oh the possibilities. (In case you don't remember...she's the girl Derek met at the bar the night before.) Well, the writers at Grey's Anatomy now have a contingency plan in case Ellen Pompeo ever wants to leave the show.

I'd say see you in September, but I'm sure I'll be posting any news or rumors I hear in the meantime. But, just in case, have a good summer! I gotta figure out what I'm going to be doing on Thursday nights now.

Lost S3ep21

Charlie has finally accepted his fate. I almost cried while he was saying goodbye to Hurley, Claire and Aaron.

Ben is on some sort of vendetta. Exactly what does he have against the Losties? It can't be just because of Locke as he hasn't really been part of the group since the hatch.

Rose and Bernard are back! Yay!

It was a decent episode. But I'm okay with that as I think they needed it to set up what happens next week during the "game changing" episode. Gah!

That's all I got tonight.

Hump Day Humor: Going to the Gynecologist

A radio station routinely paid money for people to tell their most embarrassing stories. Here was one of the winners...

I was due later that week for an appointment with the gynecologist when early one morning I received a call from his office: I had been rescheduled for early that morning at 9:30 a.m. I had just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was around 8:45 already. The trip usually took about 35 minutes so I didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, I'm sure, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So I rushed upstairs, threw off my dressing gown, wet the washcloth and gave myself a wash in "that area" in front of the sink, taking extra care to make sure that I was presentable.

I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room only a few minutes when he called me in.

Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure all women do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended I was in Hawaii or some other place a million miles away from here. I was surprised when he said: "My...we have taken a little extra effort this morning, haven't we?" but I didn't respond.

The appointment over, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day went as normal, some shopping, cleaning and the evening meal, etc.

At 8:30 that evening my 14-year-old daughter was getting ready for a school dance, when she called down from the bathroom, "Mom, where's my washcloth?"

I called back for her to get another from the cabinet. She called back, "No, I need that one that was here by the sink. It had all my glitter and sparkles in it."

10 things you didn't know about me

Or, maybe you do. I've been tagged to write ten random facts about me. This is surprisingly harder than I imagined.

1. I have a birthmark in the center of my upper back that is just slightly lighter than the rest of my skin, and it neither burns nor tans.

2. My morning routine is done in my underwear.

3. When we were little, I convinced my sister to sneak up to the attic in our garage with me. She subsequently fell through the attic floor onto the concrete in the garage and had to be taken to the emergency room.

4. I love thunderstorms.

5. I have a weakness for chocolate and peanut butter. I used to eat Oreo's by dipping them in the peanut butter jar. It drove my roommate nuts.

6. I go sock, shoe, sock, shoe rather than sock, sock, shoe, shoe like everyone else I've ever talked to.

7. I snuck out of the house one night to meet my ex-boyfriend for... well... you can figure it out.

8. I once danced to "YMCA" in front of hundreds of people.

9. In a skit in college, I had a "cake" baked on my head. Really it was just a hodge podge of ingredients.

10. After hearing a band play in college, I told a guy I thought was cute and barely knew that he had a nice face when I really meant to say he had a nice voice.

I think I've revealed enough tantalizing facts. Now it's your turn. Write a blog post of ten random facts about you. Be sure to leave a comment here with the link to your blog so we can find you.

Grey's Anatomy S3ep23

George is feeling the guilt - he can't even dance and celebrate with Callie over getting into Mercy West.

Sloane doesn't want to do his own dirty work - what a pompous ass. He's still hot.

Poor Meredith. First she almost dies, then her real mommy dies, then her fake mommy dies. It's been a rough year for the girl. Then her dad blames her for the fake mommy death in front of everyone. And even though he's clearly drunk and lashing out because of his grief, he is still doing irreprehensible damage to her, and she's letting him. And after they have made it so far. It's going to take them double the time to get back to where they were, if they're even able to.

"You'll get a high score...but not as high as mine" Even while comforting Meredith, Cristina is still competitive.

What is Meredith doing? First with the tequila shots last week, and now skipping the entire exam. What is she thinking? Although Richard is not her father - as she keeps reminding him - at least he had enough compassion and cares enough to let her take the exam still.

And now Callie knows. Just seeing George and Izzie interact after Miranda chewed him out about going to Mercy West was enough to confirm her worst suspicions. And Izzie's little rant only confirmed it. Callie looked pissed. If she thinks having a baby is going to solve her problem and keep George with her, she's very mistaken. A baby is not a solution.

Oh, it's funny and heartbreaking at the same time. Everyone around Addison is having babies but her. The gay bartender is having twins - not literally, but still. Though it doesn't look as though Adele will be any more and the birth mom for Joe might be in trouble as well.

Sloane is still clearly heartbroken over Addison. At the end in the bar, he doesn't know what to say to her, so he makes a crack about friends with benefits because as a man-whore, what else do you do?

I've heard the chick in the bar was offered a 15-episode contract for next season. Looks like trouble for Meredith and her McDreamy.

Lost S3ep20

So Ben wasn't born on the island but somewhere near Portland. Which is maybe connected to the episode titled "Not in Portland" - but Ben says he was to have authority or credibility with the rest?

So Ben's dad was Roger Workman, and Ben killed him. No wonder he was so adamant about Locke killing his dad - he thinks of it as a rite of passage. His dad was cruel to have Ben believe that he was responsible for his mom's death. Even then Ben had a thing for white rabbits. And what happened to Annie? Did she die in the purge?

Who was the guy he met in the jungle? It looked like Richard. But that's not really possible, is it? And that was Richard who Ben was talking to after the purge, but he doesn't look to be older than Ben. Is it some sort of weird island thing?

How interesting that when the Others are living in tents of a highly nomadic nature, Ben has actual drinking glasses. You wouldn't think those packed well.

Jacob, what?!?!?! What the hell was that? I'm speechless. Whatever it was, Ben was incredibly jealous that Jacob spoke to Locke. Whatever that position is, Ben clearly doesn't want to share it.

Please please please Lost gods, don't kill Locke. He's one of the best characters on that show and would leave a giant hole that couldn't possibly be filled by anyone else. Although I'm getting worried, because you could argue that his backstory is wrapped up and that makes him expendable. So let me reiterate:

Please please please please please don't kill Locke!!!!!!!!!

Hump Day Humor: Team Pride

Four baseball fans, each from a major league city, are climbing a mountain. On the way to the top, each is arguing about how loyal they are to their team and what they would do for their team. As the climb progresses, the odds increase. Upon reaching the top, the Mets fan shouts, "This is for the Mets," and hurls himself off the top. Next the Brave fan yells, "I love Atlanta, this is for the Braves," and hurls himself off the mountain. Suddenly the Red Sox fan yells "This is for everyone," and pushes the Yankees fan off .

18% of people who read this blog have above average intelligence

A couple weeks ago, Dr. Oz appeared on Oprah (Dr. Oz co-authored You: on a Diet). Every time he comes on the show, viewers (and sometimes Oprah) ask questions that you don't always hear vocalized regarding health, wellness and the body. This most recent show had a viewer questioning whether or not it's health to withhold gas because she has never passed gas in front of her husband the 20+ years they've been together. While giving his answer, Dr. Oz mentions that the average person dispenses about a pint of gas a day.

How did they measure that? Did a group of people walk around for a certain amount of time with some sort of measuring device attached to their rear ends to measure the output of gas? Can you imagine that awkwardness? I can see it, people with Erlenmeyer flasks attached to their bums. You couldn't sit down to watch TV or drive to work. Not only that but sex becomes uncomfortable and embarrassing. You'd have to be really strapped for cash to agree to participate in a study that has you walking around with something attached to your bum.

I think he made this number up. He sounds smarter and has more authority if he has a number to back up his answer. Plus, actual studies have shown that people will believe a statistic with a number attached to it, within reason. Certainly one pint of gas a days sounds reasonable. But if you disagree, show me the study on gas, and I'll change my mind.

Lost sets an end date!!

We've known for quite a while, thanks to executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, that Lost would have a definite end date. ABC has announced that Lost has only 48 more episodes after the conclusion of this season. That will be stretched into 3 seasons of 16 episodes each. They'll also follow the 24 model of airing from January (or February) straight through to May. Which is exciting and heartbreaking at the same time. We'll get week after week of new episodes but have to wait from May to January for anything new.

Grey's Anatomy S3ep22

Overall, I thought this two-hour episode dragged. I was a little disappointed to be honest. But more specifically, in LA...

So in "Private Practice" the elevator would play a big role as well. And not only that but it talks! Oh please ABC, pick up the show so at the very least I can see what else the elevator/Tilly will say and how it will impact the relationships and amount of elevator sex. The rest could completely suck, but I would watch faithfully every week because of that elevator. Best line ever: "Are you there elevator god? It's me, Addison." Frakkin hilarious - and reminiscint of that coming of age book Are you there God? It's me Margaret. Anyone else besides me read that book?

Addison was great in this episode: freaking out in the elevator, rambling about her rationalizations for being in LA, playing off the cute doctors at Oceanside, crying about being barren, yelling at the people fighting over a baby, thinking herself crazy because of a talking elevator, vowing not to "Mc" anything.

And Pete was hot - he had that confidence that McSteamy has and that's just hot. No wonder Addison went all weak at the knees. Who wouldn't in that situation?

"Private Practice" looks awesome, and I really hope they do pick it up.

Meanwhile, back in Seattle...

The Izzie/Callie tension continues. Izzie is quite humorous as she tries to distract her self with being Cristina's bridesmaid. "You want me to go over there with you - by myself?" Hilarious! I am becoming more a fan of George/Izzie. It is so well written and acted that I find myself being convinced.

I'm beginning to think more and more that Cristina and Burke aren't going to work out. At the very least they're having trouble finding their balance. At the start, Cristina was taking too much, and now the roles have switched and she's giving too much. I'm a big believer that every relationship is give and take. That a good one is built on compromise and meeting in the middle - that you have to do things you don't necessarily like doing because it's something your significant other enjoys. But if they don't find a balance, if Cristina doesn't start standing up for herself a little more, her relationship with Burke is doomed.

McSteamy is really trying. He genuinely cares for Addison and for the first time quite possibly, has had his heart broken. He has incredible self-control to not hit Alex. You know he was dying to. He lied to Addison so she wouldn't feel guilty about moving on and trying to find happiness. That scene with McDreamy when he's laughing because McSteamy is just so upset about having discovered her sleeping with someone else. Quite full circle and brilliant and makes me melt.

Poor Ava - that girl has had more surgeries in her one stay at the hospital than most people have in a lifetime. She'll get her life back by the end of the season.

McDreamy and Meredith are headed for trouble. He walked away after watching her slip back into her old behavior of covering her emotional problems with tequila. And he's questioning whether he has the strength to be a 24/7 knight in shining whatever because he's not sure she wants to swim.

Lost S3ep19

So I predicted that the man in the brig was Locke's dad and not Ben. But I did not predict that he was the same man who Sawyer has been after his whole life. That was a very interesting twist and wonderful way to connect Sawyer and Locke as characters. It's a bit peculiar that after everything his dad did to him, Locke had to con Sawyer into killing him because Locke couldn't do it. What would Ben say if he ever found out? That would be a fun story line - wonder if they'll explore it. So, is there really a magic box? If Locke's dad is to be believed, the Others kidnapped him and brought him to the island. That's not much of a stretch considering everything we've seen the Others do. One thing we shouldn't believe from him: they're not in Purgatory! Nor are they in Hell! This has been confirmed. Plus, it would be such an easy answer, I'm glad it's not the right one. I would be disappointed.

Juliet and Jack have their own secret conspiracy. I think it probably has something to do with the raid the Others are planning. Whatever it is it has to be huge as he doesn't trust Kate enough to tell her. And no one trusts Jack. Although I wouldn't either.

How has Cindy become so quickly part of the Others, for lack of a better word, culture? It's only been something like 2 or 3 months. Yet she acts as if she's been part of the group for much longer. Does Locke recognize her as one of the flight attendants? And there really are other Others who like Juliet are tired of Ben's reign of terror. It's fascinating.

Hump Day Humor: Gaston Sawyer

Here's a video mash-up of "Gaston" from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and clips of Sawyer from Lost. Wonderfully matched up and put together. Enjoy!
