Grey's Anatomy S4ep5

Omigod, omigod, omigod, omigod. He tried to cut his own foot off with a chainsaw! I guess that's one way to get the things you want done.

Do internships start roughly the same time every year? I'm curious because the timeline seems a bit off. There were supposed to be 17 days from last year's finale to this year's premiere. And since the premiere I'm guessing a week, maybe two, have passed to bring us to this episode. I don't know for sure what time of year the finale was supposed to take place, but I was under the impression that it was May maybe June or July. Which doesn't compute to Halloween now. But I'll go along with it.

Ava/Rebecca came back and Alex jumps her. Not really surprising. But what kinda is surprising is that last week he was upset with Izzie for sleeping with George so soon after Denny when she had spurned him because she wasn't ready. And now he's jumping into bed with Ava/Rebecca. But, like Meredith, he has a lot of growing up to do and can't give her what she wants. So she goes back but leaves behind her shirt. Very sweet.

I love how Callie didn't miss a beat when Bailey asked her why Izzie had to deal with her and Callie said because she's been sleeping with my husband. Absolutely no qualms about airing that dirty laundry in front of everyone.

Bailey sounded like Cristina when she professed love for a city that has a chainsaw carving pumpkin contest.

Chief's getting divorced which is not surprising. You couldn't expect him to change that much in such a short time.

Meredith's carrying her mom around in a plastic bag. Weird but I guess I can understand it...sorta. When her mom died, she pushed her grief and issues to the back of her mind and ignored them. Now that Derek has basically told her she has to grow up, they started breaking their way through her subconscious and forcing her to deal with them. So she takes her mom to work with her while she tries to figure out what to do. Makes sense...in a dark and twisty way. And with the help of the little boy and her sister, she figures out what to do with her ashes. What a touching scene with Meredith and the Chief.

N.U.A.M.S. I would be the only nurse not united against Mark Sloane. I have no idea how they're able to resist him.

The boy trick or treating for ears was funny and tragic at the same time. Though the really funny part was when he called McSteamy 'Daddy'. Also great how Mark got Derek back by spreading a rumor that he was available. Then Sidney starts hitting on him...hilarious.

Callie and Cristina bonded over their individual pain. Perhaps that's why Cristina was so angry about Gizzie...she understood Callie's position. So she's renting Burke's apartment to Callie. Kinda interesting how the apartment is a mess now that Burke's gone.

Anyone surprised that Dr. Hahn (sp?) is the new head of cardio-thoracic surgery? I'm not.

By the way - in case you haven't heard...Joshua Jackson (Pacey from Dawson's Creek) will have a multiple episode arc likely to happen in February, I believe. Another yummy doctor....hhmmm, I hope they decide to keep him.
