iPod Drama Finale

It seems I haven't kept you guys up-to-date on my iPod drama. As you may remember from my last post on this topic, I had gone to the Apple store and found out that the hard drive on my iPod was dead and my options were limited. Well, shortly after that my mom reminded me that when they had purchased the iPod, they had also bought a product replacement plan from Best Buy. Where Apple has a one year warranty, Best Buy's replacement program was for two years. And I was within that latter time period. So after some time spent dealing with Best Buy, they sent me a gift card loaded with the price of my iPod and the sales tax. Well, yesterday I finally made the trip to Best Buy to buy my second iPod. I bought the 30G video model and, of course, the product replacement plan which has been extended to 3 years. I know some of you might be wondering why I would buy another iPod with a hard drive considering what happened to my last one, why I wouldn't buy the Nano that has a thumb drive. Well, the Nano isn't big enough for me, both in physical and digital size. I think the 30G holds something like 7,500 songs and I forget how many pictures and videos. Wow! Last year when Apple announced the video iPods, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to watch videos on that small screen, but after playing with mine, the resolution and clarity is amazing and I'm hooked! After all this, I still think Steve Jobs is an ass, brilliant but an ass all the same. Thus ends my iPod drama; well, at least until this one craps out on me.

Lost S3ep4

1. Sawyer backstory this week - YAY! The last scene of his backstory when they revealed that he was working with the authorities to find where the $10 million was to get his prison sentence dropped made me doubt that he has a daughter. It's entirely possible because let's face it: he's a man whore. And statistically it's amazing he doesn't have 4 children running around - but if those authorities are anywhere near as smart as The Others, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out they had used that as a motivator. Although I admit it would make me so sad that he would be so generous as to give his commission to her and her not be his.

2. Ben has a lot of strength for such a little man. At least it seemed that way when he was throwing Sawyer around pre-bunny.

3. Who's loving Desmond's ESP or future visions or whatever they are? I know I am. I cannot wait to find out that particular story line. In the midst of this last week, I realized my initial thought on this was wrong (that he had somehow travelled to the future). It's so much more than that. Did being at the core of the hatch explosion (or implosion) give him seeing powers? What is it exactly that he sees? Can he channel it? Oh, I hope these are questions they answer.

4. Ben says to Sawyer after the supposed pacemaker that they aren't killers. So what the hell are they?!?! What is their purpose on the island? I know these are questions that we've had from the beginning of even the idea of The Others, but it seems as if we are getting more questions than answers on that particular front.

5. When Kate was changing and Sawyer's heart monitor went off, it had to have been the cutest thing. And I'm sorely disappointed that she "only said that [I love him] to stop [Danny} from hitting him." I'm hoping she just said that to keep Sawyer from knowing how much she cares. After all, he refuses to let her know how much he cares about her. And they're so much alike, is it so hard to wager a guess that she'd take the same strategy? Oh, I hope I'm right!

6. Jack's back in his element in the O.R. "Time of death..." It's almost as if he hasn't spent more than 2 months on an island. Immediately recognizing a tumor - is it Ben's? I would bet either his or Tom's (the gay guy, I think that's his name). And where in the world did The Others manage to get the medical instruments and supplies? What kind of experiment has a stocked O.R.? Or maybe they were doing experimental surgeries?

7. The Others are so freaking smart I can't get over it. They've managed to not only get all this information and take stock of each survivor's personality and character, they know how to reach each one of them. And the best way to reach Sawyer, not through threat of violence or death, but through threat of violence or death for the one thing he cares about: Kate. If she ends up with Jack, I'm going to be so mad at them for all the set-up.

Hump Day Humor: Square Testicles

An elderly woman walked into the Bank of Canada one morning with a purse full of money. She wanted to open a savings account and insisted on talking to the president of the Bank because, she said, she had a lot of money.

After many lengthy discussions (after all, the client is always right) an employee took the elderly woman to the president's office. The president of the Bank asked her how much she wanted to deposit.

She placed her purse on his desk and replied, "$165,000."

The president was curious and asked her how she had been able to save so much money. The elderly woman replied that she made bets.

The president was surprised and asked, "What kind of bets?"

The elderly woman replied, "Well, I bet you $25,000 that your testicles are square."

The president started to laugh and told the woman that it was impossible to win a bet like that.

The woman never batted an eye. She just looked at the president and said, "Would you like to take my bet?"

"Certainly", replied the president. "I bet you $25,000 that my testicles are not square."

"Done", the elderly woman answered. "But given the amount of money involved, if you don't mind I would like to come back at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning with my lawyer as a witness."

"No problem", said the president of the Bank confidently.

That night, the president became very nervous about the bet and spent a long time in front of the mirror examining his testicles, turning them this way and that, checking them over again and again until he was positive that no one could consider his testicles as square and reassuring himself that there was no way he could lose the bet.

The next morning at exactly 10 o'clock the elderly woman arrived at the president's office with her lawyer and acknowledged the $25,000 bet made the day before that the president's testicles were square.

The president confirmed that the bet was the same as the one made the day before. Then the elderly woman asked him to drop his pants etc. so that she and her lawyer could see clearly.

The president was happy to oblige. The elderly woman came closer so she could see better and asked the president if she could touch them.

"Of course", said the president. "Given the amount of money involved, you should be 100% sure."

The elderly woman did so with a little smile. Suddenly the president noticed that the lawyer was banging his head against the wall.

He asked the elderly woman why he was doing that and she replied, "Oh, it's probably because I bet him $100,000 that around 10 o'clock in the morning I would be holding the balls of the President of the Bank of Canada!"

Grey's Anatomy News and Rumors

As I'm sure a lot of you heard last week a story broke about an on-set scuffle between Isaiah Washington (Burke) and Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy) where Isaiah grabbed Patrick by the throat and pushed him. What I had missed in the first run of this story is that apparently Isaiah made some homophobic slurs about and to a fellow castmate, and Patrick was trying to intervene. (Isaiah said to Patrick , "I'm not your little faggot like [Knight].")

In a statement to People magazine, T.R. Knight (George O'Malley) has confirmed that he is gay.

And now, producer's of the show are reportedly looking for a replacement for Burke, meeting allegedly with three possible replacements: Fast Lane's Bill Bellamy, Soul Food's Boris Kodjoe and E.R.'s Eric LaSalle.

This rumor makes me extremely sad that Burke might be leaving as I really do love his character, but now I'm not a fan of Isaiah Washington anymore. Who knew he was such an ass?

Grey's Anatomy S3ep5

1. McSteamy & Callie in bed together - GROSS! Glad to see that at the end of the episode he was back in bed with Addison. Although bookending the episode with scenes of McSteamy in bed was a great idea! They should do a show of just him in a bed or a towel. I'm not picky.

2. Izzie with a smile. Yes! They timed that perfectly. One more episode and I would have been so frustrated with her. Although her broken record of "I'm fine" reminded me a bit too much of Meredith from last year. If she had continued that past this episode I might have been forced to write her off as well.

3. M&M...what the heck does that stand for? One of those M's has to be malpractice. Murder & Malpractice? Can't be. Muffins & Malpractice, hardly. Interesting scene though. Loved Miranda's line "You don't get to feel better about this and neither do I"

4. Apparently the threat to call someone's mother works even when you're a doctor

5. Burke was so close to doing the right thing! The surgery tonight might have gone well (and that was only because Christina stepped up; Burke was not about to admit a weakness, even to Christina) but it's only a matter of time before someone dies on Burke's table because of his tremor or the truth comes out or both. If only the Chief hadn't opened his big mouth and made Burke feel guilty and that he'd be letting everyone down! Grrr!

6. I love the wacky cases. It's like House but with humor, well most of the time. That pole through two people and the live bomb in the guy last year wasn't that funny. But the daughter of the previously married couple walking in and seeing them in a , er, comprised position was just the cherry on top of an already delicious ice cream sundae.

7. Alex admitted his responsibility in Denny's death and Izzie leaving the program! Growth is Alex and I'm loving it. I'm even more convinced he'll be changing his specialty.

8. Meredith's timing stinks telling McDreamy and I'm so excited. One less episode of them together. Yay! And it looks like they won't be together at least for the majority of next week's too. Woohoo!

9. Miranda hesitated over a problem with a patient that last year she would have taken care of when she was admitted. It broke my heart that she lost her confidence in her abilities as a doctor. But thanks to the Chief, she got it back in time. And put that jackie of a doctor in his place.

10. Best line of the episode: "Oh my god, I mean code blue!"

Lost S3ep3

1. Yay for Locke! Aside from Sawyer, my favorite character in the show, although not as fun to look at. Granted he's good looking for his age. I just prefer the chiseled abs, long hair and Southern accent of Sawyer. But I digress. I adore Terry Quinn, I think he's a great actor and was sad to see him leave Alias but am so glad it was for Lost because Locke wouldn't be near as much fun if someone else played him.

2. What better way to get someone to listen than have them not talk! Literally not talk! They can't do anything but listen. Brilliant! And I'm so glad to see Locke has his faith in the island back. A 'lost' Locke was seriously not as fun.

3. Yay for Boone being back! The best line of the whole episode "You'll speak when you have something worth saying". Now if that could only apply in the real world. I know my life would be considerably less frustrating.

4. The sequence in the airport where Locke is listening to the island/Boone was so beautifully shot. It kinda reminded me of the video from The Ring, you know the one that if you watched it a week later you died because the girl came out of the TV. Anyway, it was perfect.

5. That hatch hole was huge! How did they come out alive?

6. So Desmond in Hurley's t-shirt reminded me of when my sister and I were younger and we'd wear big t-shirts with belts and make them dresses. Nice legs Desmond!

7. Desmond has somehow gone into the future or came back. Or somehow there's two Desmonds running around. How the hell does that work?

8. At the beginning of this episode I was actually wondering out loud where and when Rodrigo Santoro would make his appearance. Then at the end I got my answer. He's on the beach with the rest of the survivors. Paolo. Not many lines in this episode but considering he's part of the main cast means we must get more screen time with this Brazilian beauty.

9. Scenes for next week: Does Kate finally admit she loves Sawyer? Eek! 7 days to go!

Hump Day Humor: The Test

Three men who were lost in the forest were captured by cannibals. The cannibal king told the prisoners that they could live if they pass a trial. The first step of the trial was to go to the forest and get ten pieces of the same kind of fruit. So all three men went separate ways to gather fruits.

The first one came back and said to the king, "I brought ten apples." The king then explained the trial to him. "You have to shove the fruits up your butt without any expression on your face or you'll be eaten."

The first apple went in... but on the second one he winced out in pain, so he was killed.

The second one arrived and showed the king ten berries. When the king explained the trial to him he thought to himself that this should be easy. 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8... and on the ninth berry he burst out in laughter and was killed.

The first guy and the second guy met in heaven. The first one asked, "Why did you laugh, you almost got away with it?"

The second one replied, "I couldn't help it, I saw the third guy coming with pineapples."

Grey's Anatomy S3ep4

What an amazing episode!

1. So much happened in one scene in such quick succession that when the commercials broke in, I sat stunned for a minute. The tension among Meredith, Derek and Addison, straight to the realization that McSteamy is working at Seattle Grace, immediately following which Meredith throws up and people assume she's pregnant, after which a patient blows up his own face. Holy crap! These writers have got to be some of the most brilliant people in TV. What a fantastic scene :-)

2. I've finally found a Meredith I can stand: stoned Meredith! She was hilarious. Up front and honest about everything. From what happened with George to spilling the name McSteamy to the hunk himself. "Dr. Bailey, all my boyfriends are here." So classic. George was so cute when he got embarrassed and all flustered like. Now if only she'd stay stoned throughout the life of the show, I'd be really happy.

3. Christina & Burke - denial is more than a river in Egypt! These two are going to cause serious harm if not actually kill patient(s). What the hell do they think they are doing? At first I thought Christina's determination to stay with Burke while he practice was cute but not anymore. Not when she offers to pick up his slack and say no one has to know. Someone will know and then you're in even bigger trouble. And I could have slapped her when Burke was saying being a surgeon is who he is. Undoubtedly, it is a part, but it is not all of him. Now maybe he doesn't know who he is without being a surgeon, it's a strong possibility. I'm beginning to accept that Christina may love him more for being a great surgeon rather than for him. So I've come to the belief that their days as a couple are numbered which saddens me.

4. Is Alex going to be changing specialties? It certainly seems like that's the direction he's headed in. Especially after he realizes his hero is a huge jerk (more on that in a bit), gynecology isn't so bad and Addison may actually be a decent doctor/person. I'd love to see this character grow in that direction. Alex can't stop being a complete jerk I mean after all that's part of who he is. But I'd love to see him grow his softer side and maybe be a good doctor with a little less ego.

5. That scene with Meredith and Addison was incredible and so touching. "I don't hate you." shows that Addison has accepted that the state of her marriage (or lack thereof) is partly her fault and almost none the fault of Meredith's. Growth, I love it!

6. I was so glad to see that Izzie has received closure. And the next episode looks like she's doing a lot better. She actually made it into the hospital even if it is to clean out her locker. How hard it must be to tell the parents of the man you loved that you killed him. Although we never actually got to see her say those words to Denny Sr. Such a shame, I would have liked to have seen it. Oh and when I saw the check of $8.7 million I think my exact words were "Holy shit!"

7. Finn is the better man! And although she chose McDreamy, at least he realized that. Goodbye Finn, I'll miss you

8. My personal competition between Burke and McSteamy: Burke lost a little ground this week because he makes the easier, less moral decision to not tell anyone that he shouldn't be operating. You could argue that making a less moral decision is not necessarily good cause to lose good faith. And I would answer that when you take the Hippocratic Oath and are responsible for people's lives, you don't get that chance. McSteamy didn't move either direction because he acted like an ass and it was still hot. So, if you're keeping track, that puts McSteamy slightly ahead of Burke.

9. Now my favorite part of this episode: Dr. Bailey. Throughout the episode she represented truth. With Addison it was "no man defines who you are." With the patient and his wife (who by the way was about to drive me nuts with the "but he's a salesman and he has such a nice face"!) it was "it's not about what you look like, or your job, or how successful you are. it's about having people in your life who you love and who love you. that's all that matters". Where was she when Burke was struggling with who he is? She would have smacked some sense into him since Christina is incapable of it!

Lost S3ep2

1. So why are Sawyer and Kate doing the hard labor while Jack sits beneath an aquarium in the "Hydra"? Could it be that The Others believe that Jack after a period of time and convincing will do whatever it is that they want or need from him? Maybe. Are they hoping to weaken Jack by keeping him away from his friends and thus stopping him from fulfilling his self-appointed goal of "fixing everything"? Well there's definitely another purpose for Sawyer and Kate besides clearing rocks. But I can't tell what yet. Also, does Hydra refer back to the mythological figure? There's got to be more to this post than we know.

2. How could Sawyer be so naive as to not think that The Others are monitoring them? Even if he had a tough time believing they had working technology such as surveillance cameras, how could he not think or realize that people could be out in the jungle listening to their conversations and reporting back? Or maybe that's part of Sawyer's plan. But he's too transparent for that kind of cunning. Well, either way he's going to have to learn fast.

3. Okay, who's surprised that Sun had an affair? Please raise your hands. I definitely did not. I suspected the little devious woman of foul play from the moment she started bullying her husband the way he does her. Actually maybe before when the flashback showed her father's disposition. She had to have inherited some of that vicious personality. Obviously, no one here believes he jumped from the balcony on his own free will. Someone else was there. But who? Sun or her father? Right now, I'm leaning towards Sun. We definitely know she's capable of shooting someone.

4. What happened between Juliet and Ben? Where they married (or the island sense of married)? They were obviously involved in a more personal way than just work. Way too much friction between them not to be. Maybe he cheated on her. Left her for a younger woman. Admittedly, I thought it was Connie at first. But then she was kissing that other guy, I believe she said his name was Denny (or Kenny? Lenny?). Something like that. I'd rewatch it but I need to get some sleep at some point. Anyway, something definitely more personal happened.

5. Alex, clearly she might end up as the survivors saving grace. She certainly saved Claire and Aaron. Does she know her mom is still alive? Why did she not integrate into The Others society as, well, the others? And what's her relation to Carl?

6. During the 1st season, when Jack and his dad both mentioned "and that's why the Red Sox will never win the World Series" I was screaming at the TV "Think again suckers!" And now Ben has showed Jack that the impossible is possible. That when you're down 3 games in a 7 game series, you can come back and win four games in a row and then another four games in a row to clinch the title. Not surprised that Jack didn't believe him at first. 86 years is a long time to build up the cynicism and disbelief. But Jack, the impossible is always possible.

7. Skater - I'm definitely a Skater, in case you couldn't tell by now. And that kiss, H-O-T, HOT! The smile he gives Kate after the kiss, so cute with the crinkle in his eyes and the dimples in his cheeks. Of course, he was just using her to weigh in on the guards and with Sawyer you always have to go deeper, sometimes way deeper, than surface level to see what you're actually getting. But it's my personal belief that he was just killing two birds with one stone.

New OotP Information

The first teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released Friday, November 17 before the movie Happy Feet. WB says people will only be able to see it in theatres. So don't be expecting it online immediately.

Lost S3ep1

Sorry it's taken me so long to post comments for the first episode of the season. I was waiting to see if anyone would be interested in reading it in the first place. So everyone give a big thanks to Boma for her request of blog entries on Lost.

Before I get to the episode, here's my Lost story. When the show premiered two years ago, I had wanted to watch it because I enjoy Dominic Monaghan. Unfortunately, it came on at the same time as an established show of mine. So I went with the precedent. And then last year, I didn't start watching it because I didn't want to jump in the middle. Well, that was until this summer when a good friend of mine (thanks Lin!) informed me Rodrigo Santoro was joining the cast. For those of you who don't know who Rodrigo is, he's been called the "Brazilian Tom Cruise", but I'm not a big fan of that title (and if you have any idea of my feelings on Tom you'd understand). He was Carl on Love Actually and the silent surfer on Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, who was murdered by the creepy thin man. I knew I had to start watching. I Netflixed the first and second seasons so I could catch up, and now I'm a full-fledged Lost fan.

So without further ado, my comments on the first episode:

1. Who the hell are The Others and what is their end game? This episode gave us a little bit more insight into the lives of The Others, but personally I think it gave us more questions than answers. They have book clubs, plumbing, a nice suburban-looking community; they bake muffins and cry to sad songs. But that really doesn't tell us a whole lot except that they've established a community with leaders and social groups.

2. The guy in the cage opposite of Sawyer. Personally, I think he's an Other. It's just too coincidental that he escaped shortly after Sawyer arrived. It was a way to teach Sawyer what would happen to him if he escaped and maybe put a little fear in him. We all know you can't tell Sawyer anything; he's got to figure out on his own. Wonderfully portrayed with the Pavlovian experiment featured as part of Sawyer's story arc in this episode. He's so proud when he finally manages to get the fish biscuit, and I was too. ;-)

3. Jack's anguish over his ex-wife was wonderfully portrayed and mirrored with his anguish over what is happening to his friends.

4. Henry Gale/Ben is creepy. Fantastic actor.

5. What is with the file on Jack?! How did they get it? Do they have files on all the surivivors? How did they know those people would be on that plane. Or is it information they've gathered since the plane crashed, and they developed their lists. If the latter is true, then they must have contact with someone or some group that is not on the island. Obviously, they want to know everything they can about the group of people sharing their island. Do they know all the connections? Like that Ana Lucia was Jack's dad's bodyguard? That Claire might be Jack's half-sister? I'd argue that they know the latter. What about Desmond? Do they have a file on him?

6. Sawyer and Kate, period, end of story. The look he gives her when they meet for the first time in this episode melted my knees. OMG! Yummy yum yum. Yes please!!!

BTW - I heard that we're only going to get six episodes before the show goes on hiatus until February. I'm just going to have to buy the previous seasons to make it through.

Grey's Anatomy S3ep3

1. Super Megan. What a terrible thing it would be to go through life and not feel any pain. I know what you're thinking. Why would I want to experience pain when it hurts so freakin much! Pain and being able to distinguish it as pain is what makes us human. It's what helps us to grow. So yes, I feel sorry for people are incapable of feeling it. They are missing out on one of the most incredible emotions.

2. I don't really love the way Christina tried to help Burke at the end. It was so rough and harsh. But that's Christina. And turning her into a big mush mess would be worse.

3. Finn and McDreamy. Why can't they just act like grown men? Ruining each other's date like that. Meredith will make her decision (McDreamy) when she's ready and all of the bribing and snide comments won't change her mind. But I guess in a pissing contest they never are grown men.

4. I'm glad Izzie didn't make it back in the hospital yet. The third episode just seemed to soon for her to be going back to work. And she looks a lot homelier but that's understandable considering what she's been through.

5. Cally (sp?) gets on my nerves. I get that she really likes George. But she's just creepy.

6. That guy with the brain surgery was heart breaking when he couldn't remember his son's name. I was actually saying cup out loud when he was trying to say it.

7. McSteamy as a regular cast member is a dream come true. Only now I'm completely torn. Burke or McSteamy? Right now they're both tied as McSteamy isn't backing down from what he want but Burke is so sad recovering from surgery. Stay tuned during the season to see who wins.
